The Savoy cinema, located on Derby road (Lenton), is arguably the best authentically original movie theatre in Nottingham. It's tickets are affordable and are usually below chain cinema prices, particularly on Orange 2-4-1 Wednesdays, where students can get a ticket for £2!
Standard Ticket Prices are as follows -
Adults (15 years or over): £5.50
Family (2 Adults + 2 Children or 1 Adult + 3 Children): £16
There are also confectionary stalls, where you can buy a large popcorn and coke for under £5, at the same booth where you purchase your tickets. Alternatively there is also a Sainsburys Local just outside the Theatre where you could also purchase some snacks.
The theatre shows all of the latest blockbusters, despite having a limited number of screens. As well as offering viewers the rare opportunity to watch recordings of live performances from the west-end, broadway and the national theatre (also known as Live Events). These screenings currently include Warhorse Live, Broadway's Romeo and Juliet and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
The screens are a reasonable size and the seats are relatively comfortable. Basically, you get what you pay for.
There is also an option to hire out one of the venue's screens for children's parties, Xbox and Playstation parties, as well as private screenings for birthdays or corporate events.
Definitely a venue worth considering the next time you fancy watching a film.
